When you uttered the words, I thought that would be
the end of everything. No more aimless searching, no more hopeless
rom-antics. But, they can be such a pain, can't they? I know,
I know. I'm pretty sure I know it better than anyone else. They're
mine, after all, and that's not something I can change.
And so there we were. Hopelessly spinning on our own confused orbits,
but still held in tact by our gravities hanging by threads. It
couldn't be over just because they said so. It wasn't supposed to be like
that. It couldn't be.
Always. I sincerely believed that. Even when we weren't
in each other's immediate sights, our peripherals could never, ever
lie. Thousands of people could pass and we would still know what
we wanted. But, you did what I thought we would never be able to do.
I couldn't speak of it for months, even years. I couldn't tell myself that it was
only a matter of time. I couldn't admit that I had finally
fallen short.
